6.3 Designing Student Assessments to Inform Planning: Teacher plans to use assessment results to plan for future instruction for groups of students. My understanding of this standard is that the teacher is able to create and utilize pre-assessments to inform how and what they will teach in the lessons to come.
Soccer Unit Pen and Paper Assessment
The link above will allow access to a pre-assessment that I created for a unit designed to teach soccer skills, tactics, and strategy. The assessment contains multiple choice, matching, and true/false questions designed to test the knowledge of the students who complete the assessment.
I was able to incorporate skills that I acquired in this course with my prior knowledge of soccer and creating assessments. I combined my knowledge of soccer with assessment methods to create an assessment that would best assess what prior knowledge the student is bringing to the class.
I learner, from this assignment, that I am capable of combining prior knowledge with newly acquired skills. I also learned that my prior knowledge helped me create an assessment that would benefit the teacher and student, as well as assist my classmates in brainstorming a way to create their own. I believe that with my prior knowledge and the skills acquired in this course, I am capable of creating assessments that will yield valuable information to both my students and I.
The implications of this course, and what I learned during my time in it, are being more confident in the knowledge I already possess as well as my ability to create invaluable information that will inform how I continue to teach a unit.
